Prepare the glass by brushing or rimming a cocktail glass with chamoy, then dip this portion of the glass into Tajin to evenly coat it.
In a cocktail shaker, add the slices of jalapeño (you can adjust the amount of jalapeño based on your desired level of spiciness) and muddle them to release their juices and oils.
Add the tequila, triple sec, freshly squeezed lime juice, and sweetener to the shaker. Fill the shaker with ice, secure the lid on the shaker, and shake vigorously for about 10-15 seconds.
Fill the prepared cocktail glass with ice, then strain the margarita into it, and garnish with a lime wheel and/or jalapeño ring.
Notes
Don’t have a cocktail shaker? You can stir all of the ingredients in a separate glass, shake them in a mason jar, or simply pour all of the ingredients into the prepared iced glass.
Create a simple syrup by dissolving equal parts sugar and water in a small saucepan over medium heat while stirring constantly. Once cooled, it’s ready to be used in cocktails! Using 1/2 cup sugar and 1/2 cup water yields enough simple syrup for about 8 spicy margaritas.
